Tegan Vermey, MSc. PT

Tegan Vermey is a Registered Physiotherapist who practices Orthopaedic and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy.  Tegan, who has completed the highest level of certification in Pelvic Health Physiotherapy post-graduate training in Ontario, has worked extensively with a wide variety of conditions in both men and women, including:

  • Incontinence
  • Prolapse
  • Vulvodynia
  • Pudendal Neuralgia
  • Chronic Non-Bacterial Prostatitis
  • Persistent Pelvic Pain

Tegan has a special interest in pregnancy-related low back pain, as well as helping women with the ‘common, but not normal’ postpartum challenges including:

  • Incontinence
  • Prolapse
  • Pain with sexual activities
  • Low Back/Pelvic Pain

Tegan has strived throughout her career to provide physiotherapy to those in need.  She served as a Physiotherapist in Ghana, Africa, as well as in post-earthquake Haiti.  She is a recipient of the 2015 Association of Ontario Health Centres Health Equity Award.  This award recognized her innovative efforts in creating Ontario’s first Volunteer-Run Physiotherapy Program in Guelph, Ontario, which offers free physiotherapy to those experiencing barriers to access.

Tegan is a highly-sought Clinical Educator for Pelvic Health.  She has been a clinical educator for Laurentian University’s Midwifery Program, McMaster University’s School of Rehabilitation Science, and the CAET Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Program (ETNEP).  She is also currently participating in research with investigators through McMaster University who are exploring the important relationships between pelvic floor muscle dysfunction and low back pain.

Tegan is a passionate supporter of Women’s Health.

She is delighted to help create Willow Health, a Women’s Health Centre specializing in delivering comprehensive care to address the individual needs of women of all ages in Chatham-Kent. It is Tegan’s passion to educate women on the unique abilities of their bodies, to help restore strength and movement, to help decrease persistent pain, and to empower patients to regain full quality and enjoyment of life.  Through Willow Health, Tegan’s vision is to provide excellence and equity in delivering physiotherapy services, and to raise awareness of Women’s Health issues, both locally and internationally.
